So I currently am a very happy owner of a Land Rover Freelander 2, but situation has risen where I need something with a low range gearbox with very good off road capabilities, and can also carry my family of four.  I would also like to get something less expensive than my current Freelander 2, which I will be selling soon (hopefully).  Being a Land Rover owner i first looked up Discovery 2s (Discovery 3s are hideously unreliable) and 110 Station-wagons, but I saw a J120 Prado which also looks very good and seems to tick all the boxes.

I will be doing some amount of overland, camping trips which involve some offroading "to get there", but also a lot of city driving during my normal day-to-day life.

Would you think the Landcruiser Prado would be a good choice? The one I saw (seem to be extremely rare to find a good one of these for sale where I live) is manual with the 3.0D4D and has around 120000miles. Is this risky, or it being a Toyota that is only merely running in for a Landcruiser Smile ? What should I look for?

Also, since I will be doing some offroading, is it hard to upgrade these beauties? like a snorkels, lift kits, air lockers and skid plates?

looking forward for some replies

thanks
Mark
