I am new to this site and Landcruisers, I have always been Landrover through and through but be have rescued a 1996 80 series 4.2 diesel landcruiser vx from the neighbours garden

we don't know the vehicle but little by little we have got it back on the road and we are now running it about to see if it behaves

None of the electric windows open , the drives side door card is missing and the switch was removed, I reconnected and whilst driving along it got really hot and started to smoke

could anyone maybe know what fault might be causing this?  

also it is missing it's middle seats and the drivers one is none too good, where might I look for replacements?
