Hi All,

It appears the ignition barrel on my vehicle has stuffed up. It still works, but I'm reluctant to use it in case it locks up and I can't remove it to replace. So, I've been looking for replacements.

Toyota refused to sell me one because mine is an import. A friend mentioned that he thought the Hilux mk3 barrel was compatible.

It certainly looks the same, but Roughtrax couldn't confirm. Anyone tried one?

I think the correct part number is CYLINDER ASSY, IGNITION SWITCH LOCK
69570-60070

But you could try another Toyota dealer, sounds like your one is an *beep*, or try the one from Roughtrax, I'm sure you could send it back if not fitted.

Or Try :

I removed a few of the wafers in mine to free it up rather than replace it. Have a search for "split wafer removal" and the old thread might come up. There are some useful Youtube videos on the process too.

Fan-bloody-tastic.

Just spoke to Simon.. no fuss, no import prejudice, 5 minutes and it's all ordered up. Seem Toyota Taunton are indeed just being *beep*.

Thanks for the recommendation. Simon's a top bloke!

New lock arrived today from Northampton Toyota, who very nicely sold me the part when Toyota Taunton would not because my vehicle is an import. Just been outside to fit it... bam.. straight it. Took a few minutes and all is good.
Thanks Andrew for the suggestion, and big thanks to Simon at Toyota.

No. I have to have two keys. One for doors, one for ignition. 99% of the time I open with keyfob so not a problem for me.
