hi

the issue i have is i loose drive the transmission has been replaced as well as the torque convertor when first start all is good drives forward and in reverse

after a while you will loose drive and you get a whirring noise from the bell housing almost like the torque convertor has no oil if you switch the engine off wait a few minutes restart and you can move again

anyone got an idea what could be causing this

thanks

I've not had this, thankfully, but I suggest checking the basics before fearing the worst.

1. What does the ATF in the Auto -Box look like ?? If brown & smelling burnt give it an oil change.

2. Check the Auto-Box oil level - with the engine & transmission hot and running. If you test it cold & stationary it will appear over-filled as the oil drains back from the oil cooler.

3. Ensure that the gear selector lever on the side of the Auto-box is properly aligned with the gearstick. Disconnect the linkage underneath (easy) and make sure that both are fully engaged in their respective positions before re-connecting the linkage. Adjust the linkage if the gearstick is not letting the gearbox engage fully.

4. When was the Auto-Box sump last off and the filters cleaned ?? do this if there is a possibility of blocked filters.

5. Are the Transfer Box High/Low and Centre Diff Lock engaging properly? There would probably be noises if they weren't but just eliminate the TB early on.

All basic stuff which you have probably done, but lets start simple. Let us know what you find.

Welcome to the Forum  Wink .

Bob.
