Mark,
Does it have an Auto gearbox ???
If yes, the Selector Shafts poke out of the front of the Transfer Box into an adapter between the Transfer & Gearboxes (below the Transfer Lever). The shafts can rust where they're exposed, making selection difficult.
The answer is to remove the Transfer Lever turret, reveal the rusty shafts and clean them up with emery paper. Then give them a coat of grease before re-assembling.
If its not an Auto (or even if it is), its possible that the Transfer Lever has been installed in the wrong place.
The trick is to remove the lever and look down at the two selector shafts. Use a large screwdriver to click the right-hand shaft back one notch (into HL). This brings the two end blocks into line showing an oblong hole between them where the pointy end of the Transfer Lever goes. The lever has to go to the right of the spring so that the lever is biased towards the right (move lever left against the spring and then forward to engage 'HL', back to engage 'H').
When re-installing the Transfer Lever its easy to miss the connection between the selector blocks - and then nothing works (DAMHIK).
Hope this helps.

Mark,
Sorry - I just realised you have a '100', ignore what I wrote above, its only relevant to a '90' (got carried away there - DOH!).

Thanks Bob. yes I have the 100. It worked before, its just that I've not used it in over 18months. I would imagine corrosion?? _________________ The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting the results to be different. |

It does sound like corrosion.
I haven't had the Transfer Box apart on my '100' so can't really comment. When was the oil last changed in the transfer Box?? There is (I expect) an oil pump in there that circulates it and allows splash feed to all the bearings etc.
