Hi all, I’ve had to replace the air con compressor in my 100, a simple enough diy job!
I then took the vehicle to a local a/c specialist to have the system refilled and checked for leaks etc.
He refilled the system, no leaks but he told me the operating pressure was way too high (19.5-20 bar) for for the welfare of the system and told me not to operate the a/c unless I was traveling at motorway speeds.
Now, he didn’t seem too familiar with the 100 and was baffled by the lack of an additional cooling fan to pull air across the a/c rad.
Can anybody tell me firstly is there a separate fan or is it the main cooling fan that does the job and secondly, what is the operating pressure of the a/c system?
Hope all that makes sense!
Thanking you all in advance for any help.

Hi
First the 100 only uses the one fan that is run from the engine and as far as the pressure, I am not a A/C expert but is the replacement compressor
the correct one ? or is the pulley the correct size ?  the other thing is there a blockage in the pipes

Hi. Thanks for your reply, replacement compressor came Toyota main dealer on exchange so everything was “like for like”
Pulleys etc we’re swapped over so everything is correct as far as that goes.
I guess that only leaves a possible blockage somewhere!

Hi,

Did you fit a new filter/drier? has your LC got rear A/C if so did you charge the system with rear A/C runnung? Did you charge to a clear sight glass? Also did you weigh the 134a into the system? was the system pressure tested with OFN and then evacuated befor charging?

3 favorite places for a blockage,

1) filter/drier not replaced, (should always be replaced when opening the system to the atmosphere)

2) moisture/air in the system due to not being properly evacuated.

3) expansion valve not opening enough.

Normally functioning refrigeration system.
Gauge reading:

Low pressure side:
0.15 - 0.25 MPa (1.5 - 2.5 kgf/cm2)

High pressure side:
1.37 - 1.57 MPa (14 - 15 kgf/cm2)
