Hi folks,
2002 Amazon 4.2td VX auto (158k) well maintained but suspicions of a hard life prior to my ownership.
I have intermittent grey/blue smoke both on and off load. I have recently fitted new injection nozzles and seals but still smokey.
Any ideas where to start?
My own suspicions:
Turbo?
EGR Valve and manifold gummed up
Injection pump timing
Engine wear
Any pointers would be much appreciated.
Thanks Fuzz |

The mileage is not high, so I would look at your list in this order, 2-1-3 and then if no luck 4. _________________ It's Not a Bl**dy Jeep it's a Landcruiser

Turned out to be the EGR, it was clogged up, I stripped it all out, cleaned it all up (a disgusting job!), put it all back together and fitted a blanking plate at the throttle body. Now the turbo whistles beautifully, I can hear the wastegate dumping on throttle down, the motor now runs sweetly.
Zero smoke (apart from a normal cold start and on heavy kick down), wow I am pleased it was only labour!
