I purchased my 1975 FJ 40 land cruiser LHD (Small block Chevy Engine conversion) about a week ago whilst driving it home the main live wire running from the AMP Gauge in the cluster to the back of the alternator decided to ground out on the engine rocker cover causing damage to the wiring loom no other damage to the vehicle. A section of wiring loom about 1.5 m long has some damaged wires. It is the section that goes below the dashboard and out into the offside engine bay area connecting to dash pull knobs, glove box light, heater fan, starter motor battery alternator offside headlight etc. I have mechanical experience and have disconnected the section of wiring loom and pulled it back through the bulkhead and from underneath the dashboard back to behind the gauge cluster area it is now easy to access. I have tried various Facebook groups to source a used wiring loom that I can use to splice into the existing loom replacing any damaged wires but have not found one. I’ve been advised that aftermarket wiring looms are available such as the painless wiring loom. Just wondered if there is anyone out there in FJ land who can either help me or advise me on installing the aftermarket wiring looms or potentially has a secondhand wiring loom available? Obviously my vehicle is running a V8 so the loom looks to have been modified slightly at some point difficult to say how extensive but doesn’t look too non-standard to me
