Hi Guys
I am thinking of buying a nice LC80.

I had a look at one today at almost £15K.   When the engine started up it sounded like it needs a set of big end bearings (24 valve diesel) Salesman said they all sound like that!!!!!.

Has anybody thought about an import??

The salesman offered me £4K for my pristine 90 series....Yet he had a rough 90 there at £6.75k

Looks like it may be a lost cause.

Regards

Paul

The 24 valve engines had a very noisy fuel injection pump, and on my 100 series it had a padded cover to cut out noise, but not sure if 80 series was fitted with them.

Thanks for the info.
To be honest the whole vehicle was in poor condition so the first few seconds the engine was running it sounded like big end knock. It seemed better when it had run a bit.
