I'm currently looking to buy a 90 series and have been searching the usual places for the right car, there are lots around but I noticed loads of them have a very similar mileage, somewhere around 150K + or - 10k. This has got me thinking, is there a significant service requirement at this mileage? |

If you are lucky enough to find one without serious rust on the underside I would say the top priority is to protect it from corrosion every year, particularly the rear chassis inside and out, the inner/outer sills and the rear axle. As all the 90s are at least 20 years old rust is now the main killer. Mechanically it's just keeping up the usual maintenance as laid out in the owners manual. Many people change the radiator if it is of unknown history as they can fail and allow engine cooland to enter the automatic transmission (if fitted) via the ATF oil cooler in the base. Lots of advice on here if you have a look around.
I have a 1997 petrol V6 a few miles short of 200,000 and absolutely love it, but I have had the welder out every year for the MOT for some time. _________________ 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser Colorado 3.4VX |
