Just bought a manual transmission 99' Colorado, very pleased with it but wished I'd bought an auto! Has anyone swapped from manual to auto? Is it a big job? Thanks.

Following advice received this would appear to be a hefty project so I've decided to either swap my manual for an auto or sell and buy an auto.

it is a huge job in relative terms, in the US you'd find plent of shops that would do it, in the UK (or Europe) not so much.
there is a bit of fabrication involved as a crossmember needt to be moved. easier from manual to auto as far as I know.
you may also need to find a different ECU.
knowing the cost of rebuilding an auto I'd have happily have a manual and hold it tight
