|
Can anyone help identify the type of aircon compressor fitted in my LC. 1994 4.2TD 12v is the engine. The gas type i believe is R12 not the R134a
i cant see toyota making 2 different pumps unless it was a because of the gas regulation change at that time??
many thanks

Surprised if it is running R12, my '93 is running R134A (unless it was converted before I got it, it came from the factory that way).
It's mainly the seals and all the rubber bits that get changed when it is R134, basic pump is the same I am pretty sure. _________________ 1999 Land Cruiser Amazon VX Active 4.2TD Auto

Is it a UK car? Are the service fittings small flare with external threads?
There should be some writing on the side of the compressor, cast into the metal. Should be something like 10PA15? |

You are in a bit of a gray date area there mate. After the Montreal Protocol 1992 and the Kyoto Treaty, all R12 was made illegal and R134a was introduced(hydraflouracarbon gas as opposed to clouraflouracarbon, the spelling may be a bit dodgy). If you can get R12 the charge is 1100 grams,R134a is 847 grams but to convert takes a bit of money, the plus side is iv`e seen R134a for sale in halfords. There has been developed a direct replacement for R12,it`s called S24 but I havnt seen any.If you get yours converted to R134a be prepared for leaks in the system, the reason for this is that the molecular structure of R134a is much smaller than R12.
Hope iv`e helped.
