OK - Here is a summary of what my dealer gave me for my 3.0TD (1KZTE engine) MANUAL GEARBOX - there may be a different Schedule for the Auto box.
Engine Oil and Filter - every 9000 miles
Check Tranfer Box Oil Every 9000 - replace every 27000
Check Transmission Oil Every 9000 - replace every 27000
Check Differential Oill Every 9000 - replace every 27000
Check Pas Every 9000 replace as required
Check Brake and Clutch Fluid - replace every 24 months - or earlier if contaminated
Check Valve Clearances every 54000
Check Engine Coolant level and Strength - replace at 36000 intervals
Check all drive belts
Replace Timing Belt at 63,000 mile intervals
(There is a note on the form they gave me - for Petrol Models replace spark plugs every 18000 or every 63000 for Platinum Plugs)
Replace Fuel Filter every 9000
Clean Air Filter - replace every 9000 under severe conditions or as required
Then loads of checking suspension/brakes/electrical
I would definately swap the air filter every time not just clean - and having pulled a caliper apart, I would also replace brake fluid every time (might be overkill but a £100 caliper is a pain in the posteria).
Hope this helps.

cheers peeps for the info - much appreciated
now regarding the oil changes... what are your vehicle models and engines and year ?
as it think that may explain the differences.. I know the D-4D certainly has adifferent schedule to the colorado 3.0TD
and i suspect the oil changed was different for different ages of the KZTE colorado too?
look forward to the replys!
andy
PS just called local Toytoa dealer in aberdeen to try and track down if it is due any recalls etc, and they tried to tell me it is 10,000 mile or annual service interval.... I dont believe them! _________________ -------------------------------------------------

1997 1KZ-TE I use genuine Toyota 15w40 semi-syn, although I got a great price on a 20l drum of Comma semi syn turbodiesel oil. |

I actually change mine every 6k.... (oil and filter etc) But pretty sure the uk vehicles using uk approved semi synthetic oil is supposed to be 9000 intervals |

Changed oil and filter last night, plus air and fuel. i used magnatec 15w40
filter a pig to get off, broken my strap oil filter remover, ended up taking airbox off and using a screwdriver hammered into end to unwind it....
think i will go with 6000miles or 6month changes, it will more likely be 6monthly as i do 8k miles a year normally
i assume others do the 6monthly change if that comes before milage interval reached?
put a new mainbox exhuast on too, had to take tail pipe off to remove bolts, as the main box had snapped at back end, leaving 8" pipe attached to tailpipe, and last person had welded the bolts on...
isnt it a real pig to take that tailpipe off, like a puzzle, i ended up putting the back end up on ramps to get enough room under the truck to remove it, a proper workshop lift would ahve been great!!!
got new rad too, from roughtrax, will fit that to hopefully eliminate risk of corrosion of autocooler pipes,
is it worth changing the ATF fluid when i do this? i have read stories of autobox failing after changing the fluid as it lifts up crud in the sytstem and damages them...
i think viscous fan clutch might need a top up of silicone fluid too, as it seems to spin to easily when engine warm.
in 4runner if i stop at traffic lights a few mins, when engine warm, i hear the fan roar for a moment when i pull away after lights change, this doenst happen in the landcruiser
does this happen in your trucks?
it engages first thing when engine cold, but this is common, as the clutch fluid settles down in fan clutch. _________________ -------------------------------------------------

I would recommend changing the transmission fluids for peace of mind.
You need to drop all the body trays including the front steel one.
Rear diff needs 2.9 litres of 85w90 Front diff need the same, but uses hex plugs instead of 24mm plugs like the rear diff.
The bottom plug(F+R) has a magnetic insert to catch swarf.
Gearbox holds 2.1 of 75w oil and the transfer holds 1.2l of same.
The front diff is a bit fiddly to refill try and get a 6" length of plastic hose to use as an extension for the oil bottle, I spilt a bit trying to use the flexy nozzle supplied on the bottle. |

I made a mistake, READING the handbook it says 6000ml or 6monthly changes.
It is the same for both Commercial or Passenger.
I see no mention of 9k service intervals anywhere in my book, perhaps 4runner is right and the D4D lump has longer intervals?
Regardless, no engine ever died from too many oil changes. |

cheers bullwire, 6months/6k miles it is then!
i have a huge metal syringe, 0.5 or even 1litre capacity, which is sold as a diff/gearbox change syringe, makes the oil changes much easier, i have done the long hosepipe changes before = a faff _________________ -------------------------------------------------
