Hello all.

I would like to purchase some breakdown cover for when I go over to france at the end of July.

Has anyone got any recommendations, ones to avoid, etc. please?

If you buy your regular car insurance through Adrian Flux, then you can buy their pan-European breakdown and recovery service for around £42 per year. From what I recall reading in the policy a while back, their cover is very comprehensive and looks excellent value for money. I’ve had it for 3+ years, but I’ve never had to use it, so I cannot tell you how good it is in reality.

You might be able to buy the cover without buying your regular insurance off them, but I don’t know for sure.

I'm already insured with Flux so I'll give them a bell.

Thanks!  Cool

No dice,

the breakdown cover has got to be started within 14 days of your insurance cover start date.

I'll have to try somewhere else.

it maybe obvious, but AA four star european cover is very comprehensive, discount for members and i think a further discount for applying on-line, which is very straight foward.

ok, it was 25yrs ago(!) but the VW Beetle we were in broke down in southern germany, only day 3 of our hols. Engine seized. We were then provided with a new-ish Fiesta for the rest of the 2 weeks plus the Beetle was transported all the way back to our nominated UK garage. Seem to recall the premium for the policy was £39!!!!!

Sorry for the Hijack but. Do you know if there is any UK insurance company that don't have a time limit to be outside of the country?
