Hi FBD, the last K&N filter i fitted was to a subaru along with racing spark plugs, the car was auto gear box and i,m not sure which of the two "add ons" was responsible but every time i slowed down by taking my foot of the accelerator i seemed to loose a lot of engine breaking and had to compensate with a lot of heavy braking, there is a lot of talk on the net as to the benifit of them, although 50k between changes and a great sound when accelerating grab it for me  Cool

If you plan on taking your Cruiser anywhere near dirt dust mud and water, don't go with the K&N has always been the advice I was given - they might be fine for in-city driving but don't cope with the demands of a dust-storm, or if you're driving 3rd in a convoy on a dirt road somewhere ....

I think given the potential susceptibility the D-4D allegedly has for dirty fuel causing hot-spots on combustion, I'd want the air / fuel mix going in there to be as clean as possible ...  Evil or Very Mad

Just my 2p worth ...
