Any one fitted Kenlowe fans to a 1996 Prado 3.0TD with an intercooled KZ1TE motor, are the claims of an 8% improvement in economy true?
Seems reasonable that dragging a viscous fan round constantly might have some adverse effect on efficiency.

Keen to hear the replys.

Thanks

Al.

Ive never believed these figures! There is no such thing as free power.
All the electric fan does is take the load off the crankshaft and transfer it to the electrical system which in turn hands it back to the engine as the alternator has become harder to turn.
(No Im not a trained engineer Rolling Eyes Very Happy )

Some cars have them from new but mainly to save on room, and they work often work well because they were designed that way.

Toyota employed something like 18000,yes 18000 engineers Shocked to design some of the earlier landcruisers,so I find it hard to believe that someone could make such a dramatic improvement in economy.

The test that most of these claims fail is one of independant testing and rely instead on testimonials.
Most of the testimonials come from"satisfied customers" who simply do not have the expertise or the equipment to make the claims of satisfaction. Confused

Im a little off track ,but I find most fuel saving gadgets in general, market there product and ensnare their customers the same way.

The viscous fan is only engaged at low or idling speed.
IMO spend the time and money maintaining the existing system. Laughing
