Sorry to read about your landcruiser problems Macbuzzard, I have had nothing but the most help from my local dealerships over the last few years with all 3 Landcruisers.

Do or did you only have one dealership near you? only I am suprised at their lack of help and would e-mail Toyota head office about it.

A trick I have found worked in the past is to get hold of the log book and note the previous owner and address, then ring (Via phone book info) or write including a return stamped envelope to the previous owner and ask why they sold the car. Maybe you will get an answer maybe not, but if you do as they have nothing to loose you will hopefully find out the real reason for their parting with that particular vehicle.

For the cost of a stamp and a little time may save loads of cash and worry, all dealers will accept a holding deposit on the vehicle for a short time (returnable). Friend of mind recently did that exact thing for an Avensis and it was only £100 holding deposit but in this case it was to enable him to get his part exchange to the garage later in the week for valuation as we went to view in my car. This holding deposit will allow you to carry out inspections, history checks, etc. Never accept that a dealership has done an HPI check do one yourself.
