Hi everyone. I have an 04-plate Amazon 4.7 V8 which I bought second hand. I'm familiar with the height-control lowering the car to 'normal' at speeds above 19mph but the suspension also stiffens at this speed to a very harsh feel. I already have an 06-plate Land Cruiser LC5 which has TEMS at the rear and around town above 19mph the suspension feels perfectly normal - I never need to adjust it.
I asked Toyota to check the system on the Amazon and they say it's not faulty. I've had the AHC fluid checked and a diagnostics check run on the system. I have tried the selector between comfort and sports mode and there is a noticable difference but the system still goes rock solid at 19mph and is driving me nuts. Is this normal for the Amazon? Toyota mentioned something about an ECU upgrade taking place to stiffen the suspension to stop body roll but to me the ride is not what I would expect of such a great 4x4. Any ideas? |

Hi AMD
Sound very strange, not too sure how hard it goes, but its been talked about on here about the suspention on these motors playing up.
Mine has faulted a couple of times and when it goes it goes rock hard( as if no springs) is yours that bad?

The suspension does not go rock-solid at 19mph, just very stiff so you feel bumps and the cabin gets a bit rattled. I carry a lot of photographic gear and that's why I'm concerned about it compared to the LC5 which I have used for commissions instead of the Amazon due to the suspension stiffness. I'm wondering if the ECU can be told to stiffen the suspension at 31mph instead? Aside this the Amazon is a fantastic 4x4 and I'm very glad I bought it. |

Hi AMD
Just a quick update, I don't know if you have sorted your problem, but last friday my 100 suffered with simular fault to yours, but again mine went rock hard and felt like there was no springs, but it also locked up in the down position, so have had it back to the dealers and they have fitted another set of sensors, so we will see how long it lasts.
