I think we need a bit more to go on !
Why did you have it re gassed ?
is the compressor working correctly
Did you do the re gas or did a professional do the job?
what is the temp in the air vents?
and there is poss more questions but that is some to be going on with

Well RADIOTWO,........

We had it regassed as it was empty.
Which compressor?
Professionally regassed (with a 12 month gaurentee).
The temp in the airvents does not change from normal to air con mode.

Please excuse my ignorance, I am not very mechanically minded and unless something is pointed out to me I am clueless.
That is probably not very good on this site but I hope I can still be a member.....LOL

I had an Austrian Amazon (2000) tell me that I should disconnect some pipe in the engine to reduce the smoke from the exhaust, but google can not identify the pipe in question......

Thanks

Chris

Which compressor?

Standing in front of the vehicle and the hood open looking at the front of the main engine block you should see a label "1HD-FTE".
Just to the left of the label is a metal unit the size of a 1l milk brick with two finger thick black hoses into metal tubes going in and out on top of it, at the front of the unit is a belt wheel with a rubber like belt on it to drive it from the engine.

That unit is your AC compressor and the wheel at the front of it should spin when your engine idles.
The compressor pulls heat out of AC gas and therefore can be said to be the main component of the AC system.

The belt that drives the compressor also drives the water pump on top of the engine to the right..
A previous owner could in theory have unbelted the compressor unit to save on fuel by installing a shorter belt only looping around the water pump.
I think all you can do is to check you have the full size belt looping around the compressor wheel and driving it when idling.
The people regassing the AC system should have noticed this instantly though.

I would take it back to the people that re-gassed the system. There is a set pressure according to the model. If this is slightly too high the aircon will not work properly, effectively you may have too much gas in the system.

Just to update.........

The pipe from front to back had a hole in it so the system would not hold the pressure.

replaced it now (£55 from Mr.T.) and we are now freezing hahahaha.

Thanks for the help all.
