Hi all,

I'm new here and currently land cruiserless, however will be in the market soon for my first one, so naturally a few questions arise;

For less than £4k (including any essential repairs), what is the best buy? Looking on fleabag and auto trader it looks like options are high mileage 80s 90s and lc3 and lc4 models, not a 60 or 70 in sight.

Should high mileage >250k put me off?, are there any big jobs that need to have been done or need doing?

Is the 80 really that much better off road than the 90 and LC3/4

Should I avoid the imports?, or would I be better off looking at a fresh Aussie or jap import as it should be rust free?

The musts are a diesel and an auto (as need to share the driving with my wife who can only drive autos due to a very bad left knee). Mileage will be 6k to 8k every year and driving a mix of motorway and Scottish tracks and snow in and around the Cairngorms, already appreciating that winter tyres will be a must. Also this will not be the only car as I have another car for the 60k annual commute and work miles!

Whatever we get the plan is to make it a keeper and for it to be a part of the family for many, many years so reliability and a ready source of spares are a must.

Many thanks for the help you are about to deliver Very Happy
