|
|
Hi All,
I have today failed my MOT due to a lack of Hazard warning lights on my 98 VX 4.2TD.
All indicators work fine and fuses, etc. are OK. Just no life from the flasher button. I believe the switch may be to blame but this is of course integrated into the centre control panel. I have sourced a replacement panel but I don't want to shell out for this until I am sure it is the problem.
Does anyone have a way of testing this - short of installing a replacement panel?
I have a towbar fitted - can anyone shed some light on which plugs to disconnect in the rear N/S wheelarch in order to take the towbar electrics out of the equation.
Thanks in advance, James. |

I've had a similar problem on my LC for about 7 years. (no MOT's here so not critical) There should be a live wire directly from the fuse box to the flasher unit which on my GX model is up above the accelerator pedal and had to get to to...If you remove the flasher unit and with the hazard switch in the on position you should able to by pass the flasher unit with a piece of wire. I believe flasher unit has two flasher units combined, one for the indicators , one of the hazards. If the circuit is fine, the hazards should light up but not flash...Change the flasher unit if this give light. Check the fuse as well first would be sensible...

Thanks Guy,
I finally solved this problem last week and the issue was a bad connection between the small circuit board with the hazard switch and the main A/C control board. This was fixed and now it is working fine and is MOT'd.
