|

Can anybody help a newbie please, I am in the process of importing a 1979 BJ41, which I owned for less than 6 months while I was living and working outside UK. My car is in UK now but HM Customs need me to supply a valuation of my car so they can determine how much import duty to charge me. I paid the equivalent of £8000 for it back in January, and have a receipt for this from the seller, but HM customs are requesting an independent valuation either from a Uk garage, trader or owners club, I have to have this before they will issue me a NOVA reference so I can get it registered for my use now I am back in UK.
Has this been requested before? Can anybody help? I am more than happy to pay the import duty and VAT, and I think £8000 was a fair purchase price. I am not trying to flip the car for a profit, I love the car and want to keep it for own use, can the TLOC supply me with a valuation? |

I would think that any independent valuation would be much more than what you paid, all depends on the condition of truck, so why do HMC not accept the paid value. _________________ It's Not a Bl**dy Jeep it's a Landcruiser

I,m pretty sure HMRC should take the price you paid as the basis for VAT & Duty not what someone thinks it's worth no matter how knowledgeable.
I hope it all works out well for you and it will be great to have another BJ41V in the UK I imported mine straight from Japan. |
