Hello everyone.
I joined here in hope that you guys could help med fine an engine rebuild kit for my father-in-laws Land Cruiser.
I may be really poor a searching google, but i can't find any.
The car is a 1994, 4.2TD Automatic. HDJ80, so the engine must be a 1HD-T(?).
Hope you can help me out. |

Loss of power, black'ish smoke. Im guessing a blown piston ring?
Also not more than two weeks ago it ran boiling hot on low a low water level. Sounded like a tea kettle boiling when the engine was turned off. (The warning lights/meter didn't go on/show it was that hot!)
So the HG could also be blown :/ |

I've never seen a rebuild kit, and if there is one, it will be a hell of a price.
Strip it down and replace what's needed. A friend did the same and it was the rear cylinder piston rings. He had the head checked, dropped the piston out of the bottom, honed the bore and replaced just that one. TBH, if it's much more, then with the price of toyota parts it may be easier to get a short block. |

You can get a number of rebuild kits for Toyota diesels, inc 1HD T,from Australia, most of them are around $1500AUD.
They contain new pistons, bearings seals, gaskets etc.
Most of them use the same bits and pieces that Toyota use,but by not buying them through Toyota is costs a`lot less.
AFAIK they all do overseas orders.
