Hi all.  Just registered and am total virgin so forgive me if the question has been asked (I've searched to no avail).

I've got a 07 plate LC3 and current tyres need replacing.  It's got Dunlop AT20, 265/65 R17 112S.  However, when I search on various tyre webistes using my registration number, it gives me the following tyre size (correct car showing): 225/70 R17 T 108.  Bought it virtually new, with only delivery mileage but pre-registered at the dealer, so I don't think wheels have been changed.  What should I be looking for in terms of new tyre size?

Advice appreciated.

Ned

Have a look in your driver's manual for standard and alternative tyre sizes. Your current size must be fine as you have lived with it without complaint up 'till now.

For the 2007,
I would have no hesitation in the following size
265 x 70 x R17

Slightly bigger than the stock 265 x 65 x R17 you have on now.

The 225 x 65 x R17, you mention, was as I remember for some very basic irish models.
Not sold in mainland UK. These did not have the plastic side mouldings, and had steel wheels, and as such, the narrower wheels.

If yours is a 2007, then it is not a basic Irish one, thats for sure, so the stock size is 265 x 70 x R17, and they would have been Dunlop GrandTrek.
The Dunlop GrandTrek, is seen by 90% of LC owners as a very cheap, substandard tyre to put on the Land Cruiser.
However, each to their own, and live and learn.

Thanks for the replies.  I found the driver's manual and it lists both the 225/70 R17 and the 265/65 R17.  It's definitely a UK model so no concerns there and came with Dunlop GranTrek AT20s (265/65).  I'll get them changed today and will go with 265/70 as uk_vette suggests.

Cheers.

The 265 x 65 x R17 makesthe speedo over read, at 60 mph on teh speedo, you are actually doing just 55 mph.
By putting slightly bigger tyres on, eg, 265 x 70 x R17, the speedo is now true and accurate.

If you can stretch to BFG All terrains in 265 x 70 x R17, then they will probably save you loads of money in the long run.
They are not cheap, but I do not think "Cheap" when I buy tyres.
Plus they behave well, and look great.
It has been said and proven many times, that the BFG All terrains in 265 x 70 x R17 are more than capable of double the milage of the Dunlop GrandTrek AT20s (265/65/R17.
They perform very well,
