I wonder if anyone here can help. I have just bought a LHD 1980 BJ40 on German plates and want to register it in the UK.

Most of the registration paperwork seems OK so I set out to ask Toyota for a type rating or Certificate of conformity Europe.

I am told by Toyota UK and Toyota Germany that they cannot issue a certificate of conformity as the model was never manufactured for the European market. That seems strange to me as I have seen lots of them in France, Spain and Portugal.

Also I am not sure what form the tax man wants when registering a European registered car that is 32years old?

However I do want to get it on UK plates so does anyone know or have experience on how to get hold of a certificate of conformity or a type rating so I can make my Cruiser legal?

Thanks to anyone who replys

Try Peter Jackson at Toyota UK on +44 1737367931. He advises on import issues for Toyota UK.

From a similar thread.
