I have just bought a 2002/03 Landcruiser Amazon and the instruction manual for my on board satnav/computer refers to the trip option for measuring fuel used, etc, which I'd like to make use of. But I only have Maintenance, Language, Calendar and Screen Transition choices.

Would this have been a bolt on to the system or is there a way to enable it?

Like gb062295 following RADIOTWO process only gives the options of "Maintenance", "Language", "Calendar" and "Screen transition" ie. no "Trip".

As mentioned above, the trip info option is not on the screen at all, yet the manual indicates it should be. I cant see that it would have been an optional extra, but for some reason it is missing

Only just picked up your post.  If you consult the dealer info that Toyota provide to them, it states that the trip computer function is only available on petrol versions, and not the diesel.

In reply to 'Radio 2s' rather ignorant response, it is not 'a load of rubbish -I have the note in front of me, downloaded by the dealer when I bought the car.

I believe that the diesel USED to have the trip, but it was removed from the 2003 models on.  Perhaps someone would be able to comment on this in a constructive manner.

As I said in the first post, it is not a load of rubbish, mine is a 2004 diesel, and has the trip.

Hope this is of some help.

Having given it no thought at all, but I was wondering if  your car doesn't give the trip information, there may be a chance that all it would need is a reprogramming on your onboard info computer chip.

What I would suggest is getting in touch with Toyota technical dept head office and say your car doesn't have the trip info (Give date chassis no etc etc)  and is there an upgrade to include it, or is there a replacement chip that can be installed.

I cannot see that there would be anything too technical  about doing it, only worry is if Toyota actually do a replacement chip or a remapping of your existing info chip, and the cost involved.

Anyway the cost of a call to Toyota head office may well answer the above.

As I couldn't get a definitive answer, I contacted Toyota GB with the following outcome:

Thank  you  for  your  email dated 13 February 2007 regarding the satellite
navigation system in your Amazon.

I  have  noted  your  comments  regarding the trip function that shows MPG,
distance travelled etc and can confirm that your system is not faulty.

This function is not available and has never been part of the specification
for  the  diesel  model  Amazons.  It is only applicable for the 4.7 petrol
model.

I  trust  this  clarifies this point for you and hope you are enjoying your
new  vehicle.  If you have any enquiries or require any further information
please  contact  us on 01737 367600 (telephone) or 01737 367721 (facsimile)
or at customer.relations@tgb.toyota.co.uk.

I have a 2004 54 (new Dec 04) 4.2td Amazon and that has the trip info - mine is an auto is it because you have a manual - Toyota dont know what they are talking about as the whole sat nav interface is the same as the Lexus RX300 my wife used to drive before we got the amazon

However there may have been an upgrade to the Sat Nav system between 2003 and 2004 as they also introduced the Bluetooth phone system so Toyota may have been right on a 2003 model
