|
|
This following question may seem like a strange thing to ask, but I do have a reason for asking...
On my current 1999 Amazon the vehicle is immobilised if the battery is disconnected (or goes flat) and power is subsequently restored. After restoring power you must switch on the ignition and leave it switched on for 6 minutes before the system will allow the car to start.
My question is - is this system still present on newer (post-1999) vehicles or has it been dropped?
Thanks. |

Hi there Imprator,
Renewed one of my batteries on my 1999 Amazon last week, only disconnected the passengers side battery and replaced it with a new one. Never had to wait to start it, fired up straight away. Mine was first registered early Sept 99.

Thanks for your reply.
I guess the question is; did disconnecting the one battery isolate the vehicle's electrical systems from all power? Or did the one remaining battery continue to supply power and therefore the battery disconnected/immobilisation sytstem would not have been triggered even if it was present?
(I don't know how the two batteries are connected and can't test this on my vehicle because it's a petrol version - they have only one battery.)
Thanks. |

Hi there imprator,
Point taken. The vehicles electrics are still powered up when only one battery is disconnected, I believe that the 4.2td only use the 24v system to start up. I was unaware that you only had one battery on the petrol model, therefore making my comments null & void.
