| 2006 LC4 auto with 85k on the clock. Regularly serviced. When it is started from cold the revs. go up to about 1200 rpm. When warm it drops back to about 700rpm. Started doing this about a week ago. Wife's car so I don't drive it very often but she's complained so I tried it today and can see what she means. Would the air con make it do this or is there something else going on ? Thanks in advance for any help. |

HI Scooby Sounds like you have the power heat switched on [switch to the right of the steering column ]as this is what should happen ,it warms the car up a bit quicker.

Thank you very much for that Les. I'll have a look in the book and see if she's been "meddling" How does it warm the car up quicker ? By running the engine a bit faster so that it gets warmer quicker I presume ? I must admit, she's always got the seat warmer switched on whenever I get into it at this time of year. Perhaps the old girl is feeling the cold nowadays.  |

There is a power heat pump on the drivers side of the engine looks a bit like the a/c compressor but smaller this pushes heat direct to the heater, you should notice that the engine revs will only be at the higher rate when in park or neutral.Used with the heater controls it clears the windscreen quite quickly these frosty mornings.There are previous threads on this subject on this forum.

Les, you are a star. Thank you very much. The power heat was switched on (I didn't even know such a thing existed !!!) I know she had been adjusting the headlights and I think she must have inadvertently turned it on. Thanks again, you can probably imagine what was going through my mind prior to your help.  |
