hi guys
ok brought my new baby hoem yesturday and am now wandering through the manual !! lol
however....its my first autobox,,,the beast is a landcruiser 120 LC5 2007
Can anyone explain the function and when/where you would use the "shift Lock" button situated next to the gear lever ?

Its simply there if you want to select a gear (R N 3 2 1) when the engine is off as you would need to depress the brake pedal _________________ 2004 Amazon 100 series

I use it when the vehicle is jacked up and i want to turn a wheel and realise its still in P, no need to even put the ignition on, just press the button and shift the lever.
Also some times when i've washed the vehicle on the sloping part of my drive and want to let it roll back onto the level, again just press the button and shift the lever and let it roll. |

Also useful if you blow the brake light fuse which hooks into the gear select circuit to tell the lever when your foot is on the brake. You blow that fuse, by, for example hooking up your neighbours trailer with dodgy electrics, and then you can't get out of park without that little button. |
