I have a KDJ95 3.0 D4-D with 168k on the clock

I've had problems over the past year with the engine starting up and the stopping and not restarting without 30 seconds of turning over or priming the filter pump a lot!

I put this down to corroded or twisted pipes in the Tank Feed Pipe Assembly, especially as the tank fell out due to rusty straps a couple of years ago

The engine warning light has recently started to come on, so I installed a new tank feed pipe assembly and now the light comes on after 15 seconds or so and the engine goes in to limp mode.

I've by-passed the fuel tank and all piping and started the engine of a temporary tank only 40cm away from the filter - engine light comes on almost straight away and it drank half a litre of fuel instantly

I get an error code P0093 (78) - Fuel system leak (Large leak) but can't see any leaks

Is it worth replacing the SCV's  before giving up and getting it to a garage on a tow truck?

Thanks

Forgot to say - I've changed the fuel filter and made sure everything is tight

I would say definitely worth replacing the SCV valves first.
If you do a search I've posted quite a bit on here. I think if you check the engine codes being logged that may help.
You can get them from Roughtrax

Thanks for the reply - I've changed the  SCV valves - they were weeping and the outer O ring starting to perish but there's still air getting in somewhere

I get an error code P0093 (78) - Fuel system leak (Large leak) but can't see any leaks

I can get her started but once she idles the engine warning light comes on and she goes into limp mode

I now think it's the filter housing - so will try that!

Be care for with the scv valves . I think it would be quite easy to damage the seals when installing them. Good luck trying to trace the issue. I know it can be a real pain
Could it be a partial blockage in the feed to the pump. The ecu  could interpret that as a leak. But if as you say if you tried a temporary tank and fuel disappeared very quickly. That doesn’t seem likely
