Hello.
I have a 1997 Landcruiser, VX Amazon, 4.2, 24V, HDJ80R, with an airbag light problem.
History: The sidelight switch failed, I sourced a second-hand unit replacement, disconnected the two batteries, removed the airbag, steering wheel, clock spring and changed the assembly which had the side-light switch on.
Put all the parts back and everything worked but then the airbag light wouldn't clear. Removed everything again, checked all connections, and the continuity of the circuits through the clock spring, all okay. Rebuilt but still the airbag light remains on.
Two local garages looked into this and tried all of the suggestions found on the internet to cure it, still no success. The third, an auto-electrical company, from a suggestion on the internet, changed the airbag control module. This was done, no change. They also tested all of the circuits, controls, etc., and all are okay.
So, I would be overjoyed for any suggestions to try and fix this problem. I would also ask if anyone has a wiring diagram for the airbag system, and how to clear the airbag fault code on an OBD1 connector.
Many thanks in anticipation. Martin
