I have just purchased a 2003 Amazon and was wondering how do you go about updating the Sat Nav DVD?
Where does the DVD go? As I can only find a CD Player.
Does the DVD remain inside the dash unit?
Do you have to purchase the DVD from a main dealer?
Is the copy you purchase specific to your vehicle or can it be shared around
As you can tell I really am oblivious?
Thanks in advance.

I don't have one, but I think it's under the front right seat (assuming the rear heater is under the passenger (left) seat on RHD vehicles).

I bought an 2004 Amazon from new and it came with the latest dvd satnav disc at the time. The dvd player for it is under the drivers seat. You can update them but from memory are £200 ish from dealers, but I've never bothered to replace. I've seen later versions a few times on e bay for around £25ish. |

I read on another forum that replacement DVD's can be bought from Toyota dealers. I am not convinced that it would be worth it though |

I bought my last update DVD from www.toyota-mapupdates.eu
It cost €159.00 including VAT & shipping which was considerably cheaper than the local Toyota dealership, they were asking £250.00 even though the Belgium VAT was charged at 21%.
I believe they needed to know the part number of the existing DVD.
The new one was received in 2 days of placing the order.
The DVD is genuine Toyota.
And yes, the DVD is accessible from beneath the rear of the driver seat, just move the seat fully forward. |
