Yes, I chipped the LC5 yesterday. Sourced a unit from Lindop Toyota in Queensferry on Tuesday. Local chap had it Wednesday and forwarded it to me for Thursday (yesterday morning) and fitted it in the afternoon. A good 20% increase claimed on bhp and torque figures. What a transformation! Fab. A healthy 200bhp transforms the car without driving the guts out of it. No visible smoke either on acceleration. At £375 delivered and help with fitting included good value (DIY install is easy enough if you've a bit of cop on). Excellent service from Lipton Toyo too. Contact John in Parts at 01244 821031 if you're interested. I would like the Toyo Motorsport one but simply could not justify the £900 approx price and 0% discount. End result just about the same too.

The car is much livelier, better throttle response, obviously faster over all and safer overtaking and pulling out at junctions and such like. It's the way the car should be from Toyo.

Jusifies the recent brake caliper and pad change....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it anyway. Heading to the Highlands next Friday with the family and a full load, so it will be well worth it for that alone.

It's supposed to improve a few mpg overall as the engine ultimately needs a bit less hard acceleration over the course of a journey (due to inreased bhp and torque). Remains to be seem though. No such thing as a free lunch, if you know what I mean....

TD = 3.0L KZ-TE found in Colorado's
D4-d is the LC series.

The TD can not be chipped as they are basic mechanical pumps
The D4-d are the ECU which can be electronically adjusted.

The 1KZTE is a electric pump controlled by a ECU, and they can be chipped.

Sorry Vette, what did you mean by D4D is the LC series?
90 series Colorados were fitted with the D4D engine in the later years (from W reg I think). The 120 is just a late model 90 with a different body after all.

Hi LC,
Essentially saying the D4-d engines were primarily for the LC2/3/4/5
I know a few of the last 90 series Collies got the D4-d engine.

Presumably the same chip?

I chipped my previous 4x4 with a simple plug in module. OK, it was a little quicker maybe, but what it did was really smooth out the flat spots and the pull away. My 120 was very smooth and quick too. Any genuinely noticeable improvement must be really nice indeed. Wonder if it gets rid of the clattering and owl hooting under the bonnet.  Laughing

By the way Vette, practical or not, legal abroad or not, your windows do look good on that silver body. I can't see out of mine at night and they're limo black. Can't see to reverse. Who cares, I've got a rear tow bar.

Hi LC,
Thanks for the tints comment.
Quite often on a day out, we have the 3 kids in the rear rear seats, so they used to get the sun on their heads, Daughter, son in law, and niece in the middle, and me and wifey in front = full house.
Mine will be a *beep* to reverse into a parking space now.
I was always worried about putting the rear door mounted BFG onto some guys bonnet. Now I am really worried.
the tow bar is an ugly thing to use as a 'parking sensor'  aka Stevie Wonder park by touch.

I would consider reversing sensors next.
Have you got them ?

Oh Lindop is far too close to resist, just a quick sprint down the M56 and I could be £400 lighter  Very Happy  Very Happy

It could be a race between the Safari snorkel or the chip.  Cool
