|
|
Now have a lot of water in the left hand sill judging by the noise. Had this happen on our 1st 1990 80 series and I removed some bungs underneath. I am assuming that I could do the same (it was dark tonight) on the 1995 model. My question is: From where is the water likely to be coming?
Thanks |

Water from the sunroof flows down a pipe in the A pillar down into the sills.
The sills have around 2-4 small drain holes in the lower seam that usually block - you have to look reasonably hard to find them. Once found you can clear them with a cable tie or small screwdriver although you are often better off just pulling the drain plugs _________________ Cheers,

So water is meant to pass thro' there, just not remain there. Thanks |

Had the same problem with mine, you would think that the sunroof drain pipes would have came out of the vehicle and not drain into the sills,
has anyone modified the pipes??? |

Hi lift man. There is a post on the IH8MUD forum by Jersey Cruiser, heading " Sunroof Drain Fix".
This details how he has routed the drain to outside of the truck. |

There is a better way to sort the drain problem out as i found out this morning when trying to feed tube through the sill hole.
will post pictures later,,its only a ten minute fix each side.

Just slide a zip tie up into the slots to clear the muck away and the water will run out. _________________ Jon m0zxj

Tryed to feed tube through with no success,i had bought a metre of tubing and two staight connecters for the job
After a while i gave up and looked for another option, there is a rubber grommet in the floor directly below where the drain pipe is.
i pulled the pipe out and left it in a small cotainer to catch the rain water that was dripping out of it,
come back two mins later and found this.
i then fitted the jointing piece in the drain pipe and pushed it through the hole in floor where rubber gromet had been removed
with some sealer this would be the perfect place for the drain pipe to exit.
The panel fits on perfectly with the pipe in place
so hopefully no more water in sills,Job Done.
Hope this is of some help to someone. |

Dunno about water in the sills but I opened my kirb side passenger door this afternoon to hear the sound of sloshing water!!! It has been torrential around here over the last day or so - I guess its overcome the window seals... _________________ Gav

stick a zip tie up the slits in your doors, they get blocked up too. _________________ Jon m0zxj
