Just to let others know that in the unfortunate event of needing an aircon compressor for a 4.2 diesel Amazon (mine being yr 2000) you should find that a 1.8 Freelander of similar vintage has a virtually identical Denso Compressor. It's necessary to swap the small manifold for the two hoses (4 cap screws) and also the pulley/clutch but otherwise it's the same unit and the pulley will end up correctly aligned to the crankshaft pulley. Of course you do need a clutch in good condition as the orginal Toyota one is retained. The 12v stators look interchangeable except for a different connector terminal.
With regard to the belt tensioner and idler which are pretty expensive from Toyota you should be able to easily get the 6301RDH bearing for the tensioner (from any commercial bearing supplier) but the idler has a 6302V bearing fitted which is a special with an extended inner and will be very difficult to source, so before it gets noisy remove the rubber seal, re-grease the bearing and pop the seal in again. Also remember to run the belt inside the idler (with the ungrooved side of the belt against it).Otherwise tensioner will be set far too high reducing wrap around compressor pulley. Result is squealing belt which will eventually break. Thanks must go to the “specialist” who got this wrong on my vehicle.
