See link attached... it's a picture of the instrument cluster of my Landcruiser. I am interested to know how your oil pressure, voltage, engine temperature and RPM compare when travelling at 60mph.

Go to the second picture.

PS - how do i post a picture to this forum ?

Only had mine a couple of hours, but on the run home it all looked the same apart from the fuel gauge.

I store my pictures on Photobucket and then link to them.

Hi,

My oil pressure on mine is a little lower, and when mine is showing just over 2000 rpm I am doing 70mph, and of course my fuel gauge is always showing empty!!

Steve

What model & year is yours? Seems strange that yours revs at 2000 at seventy, i'm guessing it is newer than mine 94 Vx

My oil pressure is higher, always just on the 3rd mark when not idling, and the 2nd mark when idling. But it was like yours before I changed the oil pressure sender.

Your voltage looks a bit high though.

My oil pressure sits on the third marker when the engine is cold started... otherwise sits between 2 and 3.

Hi Frederick

my cruiser

Oil - sits higher at next line on dial up
Volts - a needle width lower
RPM - bang on 2000 revs
Water - Same as

Is your D ( Drive ) light out?

These settings have been the same since I have owned the 80 now done 149K. Oil pressure went up half needle width accross whole range after Big End Shells changed at 120K

Cheers

Martin

Mine's a 5 speed manual, but instrument cluster still has the blank panel where the PRND indicator would be normally be.

Are you tyres the standard size? Perhaps an increased diameter would explain a different RMP at a given indicated speed.

Hi Frederick

Standard tyres on my auto, more likely to be some small inaccuracy in the rev counters between the two?

Cheers

Martin

My OP reads about the same.I 've also fitted a (temporary) mechanical OP gauge which shows 45-50 psi when the standard gauge reads as shown in the photo.A cold start on one of our coldest mornings will see the standard gauge on the 3rd line at a fast idle,70-75psi on the mech.At idle, when fully warmed up,the standard gauge can be anywhere from just below the 2nd line to just touching the 1st (bottom) line! but the mech gauge always shows 20psi.Just goes to show how *beep*/unreliable the standard gauge is.

Towpack, re the OP, almost the same story for me, except that i've never seen it almost touching the first line. According to page 56 of the owners' manual, the needle reads "normal" if its anywhere between 2nd and 4th lines (where 4 is just below the H). It shows a diagram of the OP guage for petrol and diesel models, which have completely different "normal" areas.

Page 56 says that temperature should be between 2 and 3.5 (but you need to imagine where these lines would be if they were written on the guage)... and this only applies to diesels with tacho, without it's a different zone for normal!

Voltage should be between half and max (page 57).

I drive a 95 24v.going to work the other morning, oil pressure went straight off the top of the gauge.panic. stopped car, gauge stayed up there. electrical fault? get in car to come home at night virtually no pressure at all. get new sender and fitted it saturday, still same reading and now more panic. last night a friend got hold of a mechanical gauge plumbed it in hey presto tickover 20psi other speeds 60 - 80 psi. I can eat and sleep again now.
