Hi just bought a amazonlandcruiser And I am un sure what the oil presure gauge should read as it hardly goes over half way to three quarters and also the engine has some back presure when you take the oil filler cap out and a little from the dip stick the car has only done 48k with a full service history and has never towed as it has no tow bar fitted their is no clouds of smoke out the exhaust and it pulls like a train is this normal ?

Ah Jay
Don't be fooled about no towbar on the back of the car, what Toyota main dealers do, if you brought your car from a main dealer, is restore a car back to how it was when new, even down to replacing good tyres with the recommended make.
Any extras like towbars etc are removed before going back on the forecourt.
The best way to find out is to write to the previous owner politely and ask them.
Don't want to worry you but in all fairness, as you asked, don't forget the towing weight limit is 3.5 tons, and if it had been used for towing???? maybe oil pressure was one of the reasons for the previous owner changing it in

See the oil pressure post on the 80 forum.

You'll find this is normal.

If it's been looked after a towing history is nothing to worry about.Towing capacity must be one of,if not THE most influential decisions in buying a vehicle like this.I'd like to bet 90%+ of all LC's sold have towed at some point in their life.

A certain amount of blow-by is normal on any engine, even more so on a diesel due to the much higher compression. However make sure your crankcase vent hose isn't blocked or restricted. This pipe vents the blow-by gasses or 'back pressure' into the air inlet pipe so you shouldn't really feel much pressure at the dipstick or oil filler.

Shouldn't worry to much about the OP gauge. They're not the most accurate ever made.If it bothers you too much check it with a mechanical gauge and sleep sound at night.
