I've also developed a problem with the drivers window. The relay in the armrest switch assembly is firing like a machine gun and only works properly on occasions. New switch assembly is in the region of £300 -ouch again!

Has anyone else had this problem?

Not specifically in an LC. However, these symptoms often denote carbon build-up on the contacts of the switch mechanism (not the relay). The driver's window is the first to experience the problem because it is the most often used.

If you don't mind a little project and/or would like to save a little money I suggest removing the switch and cleaning the contacts. This often cures the problem for another five years or so.
