Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new to this forum Very Happy

I live in Devon and I am converting an 80 series 4.2 VX to desert rally spec to hopefully compete in Lybia in march.

I have a fibreglass 40 series body coming soon for the conversion, and will by all accounts have to move the engine back by 30mm along with prop shortening and lengthening.

Would like to put some pics up periodically for those interested, and would welcome any advise or ideas.

Anyway, thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.

Jester.

Wow, that sounds like an interesting project!  Shocked

The forum seems rather quiet, but the few that do post messages are helpful.  Very Happy

Hiya Jester,

We spent several weeks (Wish it was more Laughing ) in and around Libya at the end of 2006, in particular the Ubari part of the Sahara. Although we were not in a rally, more exploratory and pleasure, I found tyre (BFG AT)and shock absorber (Procomp explorer)choice critical due to the rather choice, tarmac optional, roads. Not to mention the long sections of moonscape Shocked , corrugations and dune bashing dessert sections where 20psi was the norm:wink: . A 2" lift help no end. I also found the big 4.2 engine ideal and ran rings around the Landrovers in the party. I am sure this is teaching you to suck eggs but it would be great to see what you come up with Cool .

And welcome to the club Razz .
