Hi all. Water leaking into passenger footwell of 1996 land cruiser calerado. How much of a job to get in behind the Glovebox to fine where it's coming from. Could it be the heater matrix to the blowers. Cheers

Does the water smell like coolant and is  there any colour to it? Other things to check before ripping into the heater box are 1. is the air con drain tube clear underneath the vehicle (it's a small rubber pipe which comes through the bulkhead in the passenger footwell area and can be seen from underneath the car 2. are there any leaks around the windscreen - I had a leak up near the roof and it dripped on the steering wheel but one lower down could run behind the dash.

If you get on your back in the footwells you can see a fair bit of the heater system but if nothing is obvious then it's dismantling time which isn't too bad a job on these as they are quite basic. Roughtrax do a heater matrix  if you need one:

I know on the drivers side there's rubber grommets where the main wires enter above the throttle pedal, mine leaked water in here. I'm just suggesting maybe there is similar grommets on the passenger side.

Are you having to top up the coolant bottle? If it's coolant in the footwell and not rain water then I'm guessing you'd be topping up the coolant.
