Hi guys, I am looking to put a snorkel on my 70 cruiser, does anyone know where I can get one from in the UK?

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Cheers in advance.

Paul

I have researched this very topic quite thourally? over the past 6 months and can only find one at Cibex 4x4, a spanish site that have been making snorkels for the 70 over the past four months.

They quoted me £169 all in delivered.

Cheers Alan

I have been on their site and I will consider their version, but in a month or so I will be going to the Landrover show and hopfully I will be able to chat to ARB or similar and see if they have any versions available.

If you are interested I will let you know the outcome.

Cheers again for you great response.

If you opt to go for Cibex, it may be worth giving Andy Thomlonson a call at www.ruftraks.co.uk . He sells Cibex goods from Glasgow and sponsors their off road team. Just a thought.

There are 2 main brands of Snorkel, The Airtec which is a sub-brand of TJM and the Safari a sub-brand of ARB. These are Australian brands.

I have an Airtec on my 105 series. They are not too difficult to fit yourself.

The Airtec I think looks better. Both are I understand available for the various 70 series.

Other factors to consider are dust (not possibly relevent in the UK, very relevent in Namibia especially if travelling with more than one vehicle, the non lead vehicles gets plenty of dust sucked in from the dust 'rooster tail' of the leading vehiles) and fitting a Donaldson pre filter.

As to availability in the UK, that should be easy to Google, otherwise ship them directly from Australia, not too difficult these days.

If you are looking to wade, remember also to extend your diff' and gearbox breathers...DO NOT IGNORE THIS BIT OF ADVICE!

Don't treat wading lightly - it can be rather expensive, it's easy to trash diffs and gearboxes, compromise alternators and starter motors etc.

Best advice is don't wade for fun, rather do it when you have to. If you do do it, make a point of letting the vehicle stand for an hour or two soon afterwards and check your diff, gearbox and sump drain plugs. Water will be at the bottom. Oil contaminated with water looks like white coffee.

Hi Liz

As you are going to be at the show at the end of the month, could you supply me with a price for a snorkle for my H reg 70 series.

If you need more info please let me know.

If the price is good I would like to purchase and collect it while I am at the show.

Have you got any pictures of the unit. Also is it a bell top version or a safari.

Cheers for your help..

Awaiting your soonest response.

Paul

PS: Do you have a web site so that I can see your other items.

Hi Paul,

If you didnt have any luck getting a snorkel, I think we should be able to help you. We usually keep stock of most snorkels.

Kind regards

also had a st-steel exhaust from front to back with a smaller box on it, gives me a few extra horses and sounds good too. Twisted Evil
